Where?

We will be conducting the election and interviewing both In-Person + Virtual (simultaneously via Zoom) where the students will be able to watch all the AmeriTowne Judge and AmeriTowne Mayor Election Speeches and/or give his/her Campaign Speech (if running for office), vote, and interview! Should be a fun and exciting time!

• For In-Person Option: We will use two meeting spaces at Castle Rock Library (Event Hall A & B)

• For Virtual Option: We will be using Zoom to connect us all. Here is the Zoom info for the virtual option:

What?

This coming Friday, October 9th is our AmeriTowne Interview & Election Day!

• Elections (In-Person + Virtual): We will be running our AmeriTowne Election Day where the AmeriTowne community listens to the election campaign speeches for AmeriTowne Judge and AmeriTowneMayor and then they all vote on each position by ballot. Results will be announced via email a day later. NOTE: Students running for an elected position can only pick one - Mayor or Judge.

• Since we are running two separate AmeriTowne days, we will use two meeting spaces at the Castle Rock Library (Event Hall A & B)

• ** If your student is running for Mayor or Judge (in-person or remote), please sign up for a time slot in the designated AmeriTowne Campaign Speech Sign Up Sheet below. Make sure to pick the remote or in-person time slot for that exact position. **

• Election Resources can be found in Chapter 4, Lessons 7-10 in the Dropbox. Topics include: How Government Works and Developing Laws, Voting and Primary Election, Campaigns, and General Elections.

• Interviews (In-Person + Virtual): We are also hosting interviews (in-person and virtually) for students wanting to participate in the interview process. Students will create a resume and interview for the jobs they are hoping to get in Ameritowne.

• Parent Volunteers Needed: We need parents to volunteer to interview students either in-person or remotely via Zoom. Please use the Sign Up Sheet below to help with remote interviewing.

• ** If your student is interviewing (remotely), please sign up for a time slot in the designated AmeriTowne Remote Interview Sign Up below. This is only for students interviewing remotely. We will have directions for in-person at the in-person meeting. **

• As part of the AmeriTowne experience, your student will get the opportunity to practice his/her resume and cover letter writing skills as well as interviewing skills! What a neat opportunity to learn these important life skills so young! NOTE: They can skip the cover letter if there is not enough time to prepare one.

• Interview Resources can be found in Chapter 7, Lessons 16-18 in the Dropbox. Topics include: Interviewing Skills, Skills Assessment and Job Application, and Job Interviews and Postcards.
